The presented works are mandalas. The Sanskrit term ‘mandala’ means the center and the things around. It is a circle of life, a sign of life and death, creation and destruction, eternal transience and renewal, beginning and ending. It is a symbol of the order of nature, of harmonious coexistence of the energy of female and male elements in our double nature.
Mandalas were introduced to the Western world by Carl Gustaw Jung, who understood them as matrices of the full and perfect self, primary images of the conscious and the unconscious. Psychoanalysis sees mandalas as a gateway to the human psyche. The Catholic Church perceives them as a threat and an element of occult practices.
Decide yourself what mandalas mean for you.
